THE HASLEMERE INTERNATIONAL STRING COMPETITION 2026
Launched in 2017, the Haslemere International String Competition gives talented young string players at the beginning of their career a chance to gain significant professional concert exposure.
In 2026, the competition will grow into two categories, with a Junior Competition for players under 16, and a Senior Competition for players aged 17-24. All finalists will be given the opportunity to be part of a performance project with the English Chamber Orchestra.
ENTRY FEE: £70
PRIZES

The First Prize for the Junior Competition will be £500, and all three finalists will be involved in a group masterclass with an English Chamber Orchestra leader. In addition, an opportunity to perform with or direct a small ensemble for a short session will be offered.

The First Prize for the Senior Competition will be £1500 and a performance opportunity with the English Chamber Orchestra in concert.

All finalists in both Competitions will be given a directing masterclass with the leader of the English Chamber Orchestra, with a college ensemble. The winner of the Senior Competition will perform and direct a concerto with the English Chamber Orchestra at the Haslemere Festival 2027.
